Bhutan is experiencing a growing demand for skilled workers due to industrial expansion, but there is a significant shortage that hampers progress. Recognizing the importance of trained workers for socio-economic development, the Department of Workforce Planning and Skills Development, with support from the Bhutan Education Skills Training (BEST) project, has launched a new Diploma curriculum for Heating Ventilation Air Conditioner (HVAC) Technology.
This first edition curriculum was developed by experts in alignment with the standards of Humber College of Technology and Innovation and focuses on innovative training methods to meet the labor market needs. By emphasizing skills development and assessments based on industry standards, it aims to improve the employability of technical graduates.
The Department appreciates the contributions from experts at Humber College, local institutions, and industry representatives involved in developing this curriculum. It acknowledges that the curriculum will need revisions to adapt to the evolving job market and encourages feedback from Institutes and industry stakeholders to enhance its effectiveness. The ultimate goal is to address the skills mismatch and better meet the workforce requirements of the labor market.
